During the outbreak of COVID-19 we will be adhering to the principal of Social Distancing and therefore all classes will be held online using Zoom video conferencing, until further notice. To see how these classes will be run, watch this video.

In the spirit of sharing this burden together, FireTribe will continue to pay rent at our various training spaces (as much as possible for as long as possible) and in return it would be incredibly appreciated if our students could assist us in a similar way. We are therefore keeping our rates the same for now, but are also offering a reduced rate for anyone who is incapable of paying the usual fee.

If you have already paid in full for classes, and require a refund, please consider putting the difference towards a new prop from our Shop instead.

Poi Classes

Petit Poi

Poi is a Flow Art that involves spinning tethered weights (usually two) around the body in a variety of rhythmical and geometric patterns. Fire poi is also the most common prop that people think of when talking about fire dancing.

We have once off fire dancing classes for those wanting to give poi a spin before signing up for regular classes. These ‘Petit Poi’ classes take place every 6 weeks and are a fun exploration of the possibilities of poi.

If you’re not sure how you feel about poi spinning, or are not sure which level to join, then drop in for a Petit Poi Class to find out.

Content is aimed at mixed levels so anyone is welcome and is bound to learn something new about poi, about fire dancing and about the Flow Arts in general.

Beginner Poi

Learn the basics of how to spin poi and build a strong foundation of technique and theory with this consecutive series of classes for beginner poi students.

If you are new to poi spinning or would like to improve your basic poi skills then these classes are for you. If you would like to join in at a Clifton Fire Jam then these fire dancing classes are the right place to start.

Intermediate Hoop Dance

Here is where things start to get more technical. These classes are aimed at students who have experience with hooping and are comfortable with a good percentage of the essential beginner moves.

For this class, it's ideal for students to have a hoop that's 25-32 inches in diameter. Any bigger or smaller may be limiting as it won't fit around your body correctly, or will move too quickly or slowly. The average size is 28-30 inches and we recommend polypro tubing or HDPE with grip tape. If you are unsure of what to get please message Tracy directly for assistance.

Intermediate Hoop Moves:
- Isolation variations (iso-pops/ ghosting etc)
- Escalator variations
- Paddles and breaks
- Wedgies
- Coin flips
- Elbow passes
- Tosses
- Knee hooping
- And more!
