Tassels are an optional extra that will slow down the roll of a contact staff therefore making contact moves much easier.

• Small wicks: 6 cm

We recommend that you only use your fire staff when you are on fire and not to practice with. Rather use a Practice Contact Staff to practice and make mistakes with OR cover your fire wicks with our Fluffy Wick Covers or old socks. This will help to extend the life of your staff’s wicks and keep your practice sessions clean and fuel-free.

In the options below, choose your number of wicks placed on each end of the staff (Single, Double or Triple) and your preferred grip width.

PLEASE COMMENT YOUR PREFERRED STAFF LENGTH AND WICK SPACING WHEN ORDERING

Each wick is made from 7.5cm wide aramid tape which is rolled around the ends of the staff. Double or triple wicks can be placed together (to create a single, wide flame) or spaced out (to create multiple trails of fire).

•  19mm x 1.6mm aluminium tubing

• 100m of wick = 6cm wide roll
• 75cm of wick = 5cm wide roll
• 50cm of wick = 4cm wide roll

• Single Wicks: 1 x 6cm wicks on each end
• Double Wicks: 2 x 5cm wicks on each end (15cm together or 20cm spaced)
• Triple Wicks: 3 x 4cm wicks on each end (23cm together or 30cm spaced)

Please consider the total length of your staff when choosing your number of wicks on each end, their spacing and your grip width. Custom specifications are also available on request - just ask!

Each fire staff comes with drip catchers placed on each end between the grip and the wick(s) (space permitting) which helps absorb excess fuel before it reaches your grip.

We use black tennis overgrip which is acknowledged internationally as the best grip for staves and contact staves.

PLEASE NOTE:
It is not recommended to store a freshly used staff in its case for too long. The fuel fumes may get absorbed by the grip which will make it slippery and stretchy. If this does happen, leaving your staff out of its case for some time will dry out the grip. To avoid this, leave the staff out overnight after using it in order for the fuel to evaporate properly.
